It has been an incredible 42 years since Namatjira Haven opened its doors to help tackle the issues faced by the Aboriginal community and we still remain true to our vision today.

We provide a special place, a place of healing and restoration where people come to work through their issues and have some genuine time out from the stresses of everyday life. Today Namatjira Haven provides a residential setting for Aboriginal men who are ready to seek help in a safe and culturally healing environment, through our Gulgihwen Change Program.

We want to fund more beds for this program, to reach the most at need in society- could you help us?

We know the need for our support is great- more than ever, alcohol and drugs are having a devastating effect on our Aboriginal Communities. Your donation could help us to deliver this change to more men, in need right now.

“I came to Namatjira Haven in 2018 as a spiritually broken man...disconnected from my culture and my own identity and totally lost to alcohol. With the help of Nama I was able to see myself and learn how to stand back up with pride.”

About our program

Our Gulgihwen Program is aimed at Aboriginal men who want to tackle their issues with drug and alcohol use. With the support of professional staff and an individual case manager for each of our residents, we offer a compassionate and culturally focused professional program of change – centered on self-responsibility in order to achieve the goal of healing.

The program is flexible and can adapt to individual needs, running from 6-8 weeks through to 4-9 months residency for men facing more complex issues, including homelessness.

We want to raise money in this appeal to support more men through the program.

Many men are destitute on arrival and we’re not prepared to turn them away. it takes time for them to achieve financial stability – your support means they can reach this stability sooner and we can keep our doors open.
